Fantastic Firefox Extension for One Click Web Page Validation

Date February 8, 2007

If you are not using the Firefox browser yet, this little tip may convert you!

Each Firefox browser can be modified for the individual user by installing “extensions” to the browser. Each extension provides a particular functionality to the browser.

One extension that will help immensely in creating useful Web pages is called Total Validator.

Once installed, all you have to do is navigate to the page of interest and click on a little ‘TV’ icon at the bottom of the browser window. According to how your options are set up, you can request a copy of the validation results be sent to your email address.

Right-click the TV icon to change options on the fly. You can modify the output by changing the options that you select — you can even request screenshots of a few dozen different browser configurations and resolutions on Windows and Linux systems!

For Apple-Mac browser screenshots, you will need to purchase the stand alone professional tool. The pro tool has the advantage that it can “validate an entire site rather than just one page at a time”.

Besides validating and providing screenshots of your Web pages, Total Validator will also check for broken links, check your spelling on the page, and check your page for universal accessibility. TV gives you everything you need at your fingertips to make sure that your Web pages can be seen by everyone.
